SharkTracker
Take on the role of Mote Marine Laboratory scientists at SHARKTRACKER to learn how researchers track sharks in the wild using high-tech sensing equipment and underwater microphones.
This all-new interactive exhibit includes two touch-screen kiosks that allow you to follow juvenile blacktip sharks in
Terra
Ceia
Bay as the fish migrate through nursery areas and attempt to overcome challenges in their environment as they mature toward adulthood.
The exhibit highlights the work of Mote shark researcher, Dr. Michelle Heupel. Dr. Heupel is currently studying blacktip and bonnethead sharks in
Terra
Ceia
Bay as well as bull sharks in the
Caloosahatchee
River . Her studies follow shark migrations to learn about how different species of sharks use different habitats.
SHARKTRACKER features bonnethead sharks, a cousin of a great hammerhead, in a new 15,000-gallon habitat.
