Winners of Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium's 55th Anniversary Celebration Juried Art Exhibition & Silent Auction were chosen on Thursday, March 11. Pieces were selected by jurors Jack Dowd, a nationally recognized contemporary social realist artist, and Lourdes and Robert Ziegenfuss, art collectors and gallery curators. |
| The Winners: • Best of Show: "Twilight's Last Rise" by K.C. Scott of Sarasota • 1st Place: "On the Water, In the Water" by Sandra Frick of Sarasota • 2nd Place: "Red Tide in the Bay # 8" by Capt. | Mote Aquarium visitors can view and buy artwork 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Friday, March 19. Visitors can also bid on artwork in the silent auction accompanying the exhibit. Visitors will receive an admission-free pass that allows return trips for up to three guests to view, buy or check on bids throughout the week.
Winning Silent Auction bidders will be notified at close of business Friday, March 19. Pick up of all artwork is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 20 All art sales support Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium.

| Bebak thanked event chair Debbe Dart, a Sarasota artist, and co-chair Janet Minker, joined by her husband Elliott Himelfarb, along with Mote's 55th Anniversary Chair Judy Graham of Sarasota. Enjoying the artworks were Mote Trustee Penelope Kingman of Longboat Key along with Sarasota resident Susan Gilmore-Clarke, secretary of Mote's Board. Attendees also included Jim Shirley, Executive Director of the Sarasota Arts Council, Sarasota veterinarian Dr. Adam Cohen, displaying his ceramic artwork, Jim Brown of Longboat Key, artist Miriam Cassel with husband Stuart Cassell and Patrick Fowler with wife Lisa Codianne Fowler. | |

Mote Marine Laboratory has been a leader in marine research since it was founded in 1955. Today, we incorporate public outreach as a key part of our mission. Mote is an independent nonprofit organization and has seven centers for marine research, the public Mote Aquarium and an Education Division specializing in public programs for all ages.
