Call for Entries: Mote is Fishing for Your Original Art

Published Monday, October 12, 2009 10:00 am

We've got the science of the sea down, but we need your help with the art. Mote Marine Laboratory is now accepting entry applications for art representing Mote's 55 years of preserving our world's marine environment and advancing marine science for entry in a week-long exhibition on March 11-19, 2010.
Selected artworks will be shown in the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium 55th Anniversary Celebration Juried Art Exhibition, part of a year-long celebration of Mote's 55th Anniversary.
The display will greet guests in Mote Aquarium, which attracts 300,000 visitors each year.
The exhibition will include opening and closing receptions and a silent auction. All sales of artwork will benefit the programs and projects of Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium.
We encourage artists to draw inspiration from visiting Mote Aquarium and from the pictures and stories on www.mote.org. Catch a glimmering snook on canvas, sketch a darting dolphin, get colorful with corals — explore the sea of possibilities.
For more information, submission and entry forms, visit www.mote.org/artexhibit2010.
Please address questions to Exhibition Chairwoman, Deborah Dart, at deborah.dart@dagdart.com.
