PS2 is a national research–based educational curriculum designed to introduce middle and high school teachers to the joys and skills of paddling a canoe and/or kayak. This curriculum prepares teachers/students to paddle in protected flatwater venues.Kayaks will be provided.
Nature artist Heather Fortner will teach you how to practice the Japanese art of gyotaku (fish printing) – an innovative way to incorporate art into your science classroom.Learn about the morphology of fishes and how fish “reveal” themselves through the process of gyotaku.
Earn your Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Collection certificate so that you can collect live ocean animals for your classroom.Participants will practice collecting techniques in the field and take home marine science classroom activities that meet Sunshine State Standards.Mote educators will also give you an optional field sampling training session and help you plan for your class field trip. Come ready to get wet!
