Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts may earn marine-themed badges and patches through participation in full-day Scout events and on-demand workshops.

Boy Scout Merit Badges

Workshops by request:Troops may schedule workshops with a Mote educator at their convenience. Each workshop requires a minimum of 15 students. Workshop by Request Form

Oceanography Merit Badge: September 25

Boy Scouts may complete all of the requirements for their Oceanography Badge in this one day workshop, which combines hands-on classroom, in-water, and Aquarium exploration. Please note that Scouts must complete the prerequisite book report (details are in the registration packet) in order to earn their badge, and that the workshop does not include physical interactions with Mote exhibit animals. Scouts should bring their blue cards with them, and be prepared to go in the water. Find out what to bring and wear.

Cost: $18 per participant (student or chaperone). Each student or student group must be accompanied by at least one chaperone.

Time: 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. Check-in begins at 9 a.m.

Place: Meet in Immersion Cinema at the Mote Aquarium.

Cancellation Policy

There are no refunds for Mote Education programs unless Mote cancels the program. If you provide notice of cancellation, or a change in the number of students attending, more than days before the program begins, we will credit your payment to a future program. If within 5 days of the program, you cancel or decrease the number of students attending, or fail to show up without giving notice, you will be charged in full for the program.
