Partnership Schools

Partnership schools make the most of Mote.

Students at our partnership schools visit Mote Marine Laboratory several times each school year, each time for a full day of marine science learning activities.

Mote educators work closely with teachers and administrators at these schools to develop lesson plans that complement classroom curricula and meet the Sunshine State Standards in science education.

Through our partnerships, we aim to

  • Educate students about the positive and negative ways that human activities impact the ocean environment.
  • Provide students with hands-on marine science research experiences, including data collection and analysis.
  • Foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Increase awareness of Mote's research activities and valuable role as a community resource and education facility.
  • Create opportunities for interdisciplinary teaching that allows educators to work together as a fluid team.
  • Develop a model for future partnership projects between Mote Marine Laboratory and the community.
