This 34.5-inch snook was
relased as a juvenile into Sarasota Bay in
April 1999 and captured in July 2004.
MISSION: The
goal of stock enhancement research at Mote Marine Laboratory is to
develop a responsible and effective marine stock enhancement technology (1) to help restore depleted populations in the sea, (2) to augment fishery yields, and (3) to provide a tool for advancing basic knowledge about wild stocks.

Mote Marine Laboratory has been a leader in marine research since it was founded in 1955. Today, we incorporate public outreach as a key part of our mission. Mote is an independent nonprofit organization and has seven centers for marine research, the public Mote Aquarium and an Education Division specializing in public programs for all ages.
