About the LibraryThe Arthur Vining Davis Library & Archives at Mote Marine Laboratory is a research library whose collections, resources and services are developed and maintained for the support of marine research and education.
The library is open to the Mote community 24 hours a day and open to the public for research during regular laboratory hours. The library staff is available 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to provide reference assistance and to guide patrons in the use of the library resources and its collections. We suggest that patrons make an appointment with the librarian to assure onsite assistance. Only those affiliated with Mote have circulating privileges.
The library includes 26,000 print volumes, 510 print journal titles, 4,750 cataloged reprints, 1,650 Mote Technical Reports, and 5,100 e-journals and serials and 11,800 e-books. The collection reflects the research interests of the laboratory and covers coastal, shelf and estuarine ecology; benthic ecology; coral reef physiology; fisheries; finfish mariculture; aquaculture; elasmobranch biology and biomedical research; fates and effects of toxins in the marine environment; ocean acidification; marine mammals of the Gulf and Atlantic coasts; and sea turtles.
SERVICES: Reference; interlibrary loan; photocopying; scanners; microfiche reader; and onsite research of its historical environmental archives. Electronic resources include: Internet access; online catalog; open access institutional repository; literature searching with Ebsco Discovery Service and FirstSearch; and Ariel document delivery;
