Mote Marine Laboratory

Susan Lagg May manages the data systems that support every aspect of Mote’s development efforts, oversees its membership activities and gathers and organizes knowledge to help Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium better serve donors, members and Aquarium visitors. May previously served as Chief Operating Officer for the Van Wezel Foundation, Inc., where she successfully oversaw financial management, business operations and donor data for the Foundation, which supports Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall. She has decades of experience with leadership and financial administration at arts and cultural institutions, including multiple leadership roles with Florida West Coast Symphony, Executive Directorship of Sarasota Ballet of Florida, Columbus Symphony Orchestra in Georgia and LaCrosse Symphony Orchestra in Wisconsin. She earned her Master of Arts in Business from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and her Bachelor of Music with a minor in Marketing from University of Wisconsin, Whitewater.
