RESEARCH INTERESTS

My research interests are primarily focused on the biology/ecology and the detection/monitoring of harmful and potentially harmful phytoplankton. Particularly, my interests lie in the distributions and community dynamics of harmful phytoplankton, methodologies for cell and toxin detection, mechanisms of pathogenicity in harmful phytoplankton, the effects of harmful species on aquatic resources (fish, shellfish, etc.), and aspects of phytoplankton biology and ecology that influence bloom development and toxicity.
