Amanda Patino

Title: Dolphin Trainer
Amanda acquired her undergraduate degree in biology with a minor in chemistry from the University of Texas at El Paso. After working for a year with the state government environmental agency in Texas, she moved to California for a two year program in Exotic Animal Training and Management — where she gained a valuable education and hands-on experience working with and training variety of exotic animals.  After the completion of this program, she was accepted as an intern at Mote Marine Laboratory, working with Hugh and Buffett in the Manatee Care and Research Program.
Before completing her internship Amanda was hired by Mote Aquarium, where she worked alongside Holly West caring for the resident sea turtles.  Seeking experience training cetaceans, she accepted a position with the Navy Marine Mammal Program in Georgia, where she worked with dolphins and sea lions. A recent engagement brought her back to Sarasota, where she was delighted to hear that a position became available with Mote’s Dolphin Care Program. She looks forward to gaining even more experience in the field of marine mammal husbandry, research and training.
