Mary Manzke

Title: Head Dolphin Trainer
Email:
Mary Manzke joined Mote in October 2007. Before coming to Mote, Mary worked in Key Largo for 17 years with Atlantic bottlenose dolphins conducting shows, public interaction programs and a dolphin-human therapy program. She was lucky enough to work with dolphins that ranged in in age from newborn to 40. These dolphins taught her that “working with” dolphins meant recognizing the importance of treating each one as an individual and to let their personalities flourish. Mary has a degree in psychology with a concentration in animal behavior. Her other experiences include working for the National Marine Fisheries Service conducting cetacean population studies aboard NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) vessels. One of these studies involved collecting data on spotted and spinner dolphins in the eastern tropical Pacific. Mary excited to combine all of her experiences together and is looking forward to learning as much as possible through the daily care, training, and research with Harley and Moonshine, Mote Aquarium’s resident dolphins.
Education
B.A. in psychology with a concentration in animal behavior from Mary Washington University, Fredericksburg, VA
