Turtle upon arrival.

3/2 Turtle was recovered at St. Lucie Power Plant yesterday and brought to the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital this afternoon.  Turtle is lethargic, covered in barnacles and algae, is anemic, and has tumors (possibly fibropapillomas).  Turtle has been started on treatment and placed in shallow water. 3/4 Turtle has begun to eat and is much stronger. 3/13 Turtle is continuing to improve and is eating well.  Have treated the turtle for blood flukes that cause the lethargic loggerhead syndrome. 3/24 Anemia is now responding to treatment and turtle is gaining weight. 4/8 Anemia is now resolved.  Planning MRI this weekend. 4/12 MRI today at Bowes Imaging Center revealed NO internal tumors.  Turtle continues doing very well.  Will have surgery soon. 4/30 Had laser surgery yesterday to remove the external tumors and for biopsies to confirm diagnosis. 5/17 Biopsies have confirmed fibropapillomatosis which is rare in loggerheads.  Turtle is doing well after surgery. 5/30 Surgery sites are almost completely healed.  Turtle is doing very well. 6/20 Turtle continues to do very well. 7/1 Continuing to do well. 7/26 Still doing very well.  No evidence of tumor regrowths. 8/28 Turtle is doing so well, we had to reduce its diet to prevent it from becoming overweight.  10/24 Turtle continues to do well.  Gaining weight and still no evidence of tumor regrowths. 11/25 Turtle is eating great.  Remains off all medication. 12/08 Turtle will be evaluated for release, next week, by our veterinarian. 12/22 Turtle will be release sometime in January 1/5 Turtle will be released this Wednesday on the east coast
