Photo of turtle on arrival.

9/18 Turtle was found floating off Lido Key by Eric Johnson.  Turtle is lethargic with muscle weakness and swollen eyes and appears to be affected by red tide toxicosis.  It has an old compression fracture of the carapace and was started on treatment. 9/19 Turtle seems a little stronger today. 9/22 Eye swelling is completely gone and old compression fracture appears to be completely healed (could not clean off barnacles and algae before now).  Still very weak, so remaining out of the water.  Blood test indicated that turtle is affected by red tide. 9/25 Very little change. 9/26 Turtle was extremely weak early in the morning, then died about noon.  Necropsy showed a combination of red tide toxicosis and damage from blood flukes (Spirorchiids).
