This turtle was found floating north of the Venice Inlet, unable to submerge. It was brought to the Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital very lethargic, but responsive. It was given fluids and antibiotics and blood was taken for testing. 8/27 Turtle is showing no improvement, but is now being administered gruel via stomach tube. 8/30 Tubing continues, but very little change. 9/1 Turtle seems a little improved. Still being tube fed, but is starting to gain weight. 9/9 There has been little change in the last week. Still being tubed twice daily and not moving much. 9/21 The turtle is slightly stronger, but otherwise, unchanged. Continuing tubing. 10/1 Turtle died this morning. Will do necropsy later today.
