Comments/Disposition:

This turtle was found floating offshore from Lido Key and was non-responsive when approached. The turtle was brought to the STRH by Lance Taylor (thanks, Lance). The turtle was very emaciated, very anemic, covered in barnacles, and non-responsive. Turtle was given intravenous and subcutaneous fluids, antibiotics, Vitamin K, and a hormone to stimulate red blood cell production. Prognosis is grave at this time. 4/7 Turtle is doing very poorly and is extremely anemic. A blood transfusion was given, but did not seem to help much. 4/8 Turtle was no better this morning and died late this morning. Necropsy this afternoon revealed bleeding into the pericardium, coelomic cavity that had been going on for a while. Probably due to a clotting disorder, but will not know for sure until we get pathology results.
