Comments/Disposition:

3/23 This very small turtle was found floating in Sarasota Bay during a red tide bloom. The turtle was very limp and disoriented, although it appeared to be in good flesh. Red tide toxicosis is suspected as the cause of stranding. It is being treated as such. Unfortunately, the turtle died about three hours after arrival. Necropsy revealed very little abnormal internally, which is consistent with red tide toxicosis.
