This turtle was found struggling at the surface to breathe. It has old, healed wounds to its carapace and is missing its right rear flipper. The turtle is somewhat disoriented, but otherwise appears relatively healthy. It is suspected of having red tide toxicosis. It also appears to have a mild pneumonia. It was started on antibiotics and maintained out of water over night. The following morning it was placed in water and immediately began to swim. Later in the day, it ate a small amount of squid. Its white cell count is somewhat elevated, as its creatine kinase. 9/12 Turtle is now eating everything that it is offered and is doing well. 9/15 White count is coming down and appetite is excellent. 10/10 Turtle is doing very well. He is now off all medications and is gaining weight. He may be releasable in two weeks if blood values stay normal. 10/30 All is well, so Troy is to be released this afternoon in Charlotte Harbor.
