Comments/Disposition:
This turtle was found floating near Snead Island. It is emaciated and lethargic. It is missing most of its right front flipper (old injury that is healed). Have given it fluids and antibiotics. 4/8 Took radiographs yesterday and found free air in the coelomic cavity. Drained off the air yesterday and today and turtle is now able to submerge. It started eating yesterday. 4/12 Turtle is eating better each day and is becoming more active. 4/18 Turtle's appetite is good and it is now gaining weight. 4/23 Turtle is now eating everything we offer. 5/11 Appetite has been variable for the last week, but overall doing fairly well. 7/20 Turtle is slowly improving. An abscess on his head has slowed his progress somewhat, but that is now almost completely healed. 8/8 Turtle is doing very well. Considering release in the near future. 8/12 Turtle was released this morning off Manasota Beach near Englewood.
