Comments/Disposition:

This turtle was found floating in Stump Pass Marine boat basin and was transported to Mote for rehabilitation. It had carapace damage (either a boat strike or shark bite or both) and tissue damage to the head (possible shark bite). Turtle was covered with small barnacles, was anemic, and had much infection. Turtle was given fluids and antibiotics. 7/20 Turtle is improving.  Appetite is excellent and turtle is gaining weight. 8/8 Turtle has been doing very well.  Considering release in the near future.  See photo comparison below. 8/12 Turtle was released this morning from Manasota Beach near Englewood.
