4/30 Jeffery arrived at the hospital after being caught in a trawl net placed before a dredge. The turtle suffers from fibropapillomastosis and was given fluids and placed in water. Within a couple of hours, the turtle was eating. 5/13 Jeffery received laser surgery to remove the tumors. It recovered quickly and was eating the next day. 6/2 Jeffery is still on antibiotics but has continued to improve and heal. 6/13 Jeffery continues on the same rehabilitation course, getting stronger each day. 7/31 New tumors have been found on this turtle, so Jeffery will undergo another surgery to have those tumors removed. Otherwise, this turtle is eating great and behaving normally. 8/12 Jeffery had surgery and is recovering well. The turtle is eating everything it is offered and is very active. 9/12 Jeffery had surgery over the weekend to remove a small fibropapilloma tumor on his front left flipper and a small lesion on his left eye. The turtle is recovering from surgery and eating well. 10/10 Turtle is on antibiotics but no new growths have been observed. 11/28 Jeffery is gaining weight and no new growths very been observed. 12/12 This turtle was released from the northern end of Longboat Key!
