11/15 J.D. arrived today from the east coast and is suffering from several large papilloma tumors and significant shell damage over the left front flipper. The turtle was given fluids and water tested. J.D. did well in the water and was left in the water overnight. 11/20 J.D. was moved to deeper water and has started to eat. The turtle is also recieving antibiotics due to the blood chemistries not being within the normal range. 11/28 The turtle continues to eat and gain strength. J.D. will have surgery in a couple of weeks to remove the tumors. 12/10 J.D. had intensive surgery today to remove all of the papilloma tumors, including a very large one above the left shoulder. The turtle recovered quickly and was eating by the end of the day. 1/5 J.D. has continued to eat and gains strength daily. 1/30 J.D. had a second surgery to remove some small tumor regrowth. The turtle recoverd quickly and was eating within a couple of hours after surgery. 2/25 J.D. has continued to eat well and heal from surgery. 3/28 J.D. has been cleared for release by vet staff! The turtle will be released in April. 4/8 J.D. was released!
