Comments/Disposition:
10/8 Anita arrived today at Mote's Sea Turtle Rehabilitation Hospital as a transfer from Gumbo Limbo in Boca Raton. At Gumbo Limbo, Anita had exploratory surgery for a suspected obstruction, which turned out to be a cigarette butt and a couple of feet of monofilament line. Upon arrival, Anita was weighed and we administered fluids. Anita is doing well in her new tank and has a slight floatation issue that remains under close observation. X-rays will be taken in a couple of days and surgery is scheduled for later this month to remove some fibropapilloma tumors. 10/29 Today, Anita had laser surgery to remove several papilloma tumors. The turtle recovered quickly and has begun to eat. The healing process from surgery will take a few months. 11/28 Anita has continued to recover from the surgery a few weeks ago and is eating well and getting stronger every day. 12/10 Today Anita had two small skin tags that could have possibly been small tumor regrowth frozen off by Dr. Stamper. Anita ate within the hour! 1/7 Anita had a checkup today and bloodwork was submitted and the results were good. We have applied to FWC for Anita's release! 1/17 Anita was released today!
