Comments/Disposition:

Barium series on "Brody." This turtle has a total blockage of its intestinal tract.

7/14 This turtle was found floating off Bradenton Beach and unable to dive.  Animal is anemic, hypogylcemic and hypocalcemic.  7/15 Turtle has a hard time holding breath (leaking air) and looks bloated.  Hard impaction felt on left side.  Will take radiographs. 7/17 Turtle remains on fluid therapy and no food. Hopes are that the animal will pass blockage on its own.  7/20 Tried force feeding "turtle sliders"  today — a mixture of mineral oil, calcium and gelatin in hopes of dislodging the blockage. 7/23 Starting a barium series to see if anything is passing in the GI tract. 8/8 Due to the finding of the barium study, the turtle was sent up to the University of Florida for surgery.  Because of the intestinal constrictions found during surgery, the turtle was euthanized.
