3/28/2010  This turtle arrived yesterday evening after being struck by a boat, likely sunning himself at the surface.  Turtle has a severe fracture of the carapace extending from the base of the neck toward the right shoulder, exposing muscle and lung tissue.  There are also several smaller abrasions of the carapace and soft tissues.  Turtle made it through the night, but remains in extremely critical condition.  Triscuit is being treated with antibiotics, pain medications and fluids, and will need to remain out of the water for some time to allow the injury to start healing. Prognosis is guarded. 3/30  Turtle died quietly last night. Massive internal trauma and bleeding is suspected, but necropsy results are still pending.
