Mother and calf on arrival.

5/5 Four dolphins stranded late last night near Bonita Beach, Florida. They were found by a group of concerned citizens who assisted the animals until staff from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) could arrive on scene.  They were transported to Mote by FWC and Mote staff for treatment and care.  This calf is very young (a few days old) and very thin and weak.  Its chances are not good, but we have begun to give it milk and formula via stomach tube. 5/6 Calf died during the night.  Necropsy revealed a severe bacteremia/septicemia caused by E. coli.
