Center for Fisheries Enhancement

CENTER MISSION

The mission of the Center for Fisheries Enhancement is to substantially increase knowledge of how to preserve and enhance coastal fish and invertebrate populations. We aspire to become a center that is widely recognized as a world leader in the fields of fisheries ecology, marine fisheries enhancement and fisheries management strategies through achievements in innovative and high-quality research and training, and by promoting sustainable fishing practices.

RESEARCH PROGRAMS


RESEARCH COLLABORATIONS AND CONSORTIA

  • Florida Saltwater Hatchery and Habitat Initiative A unique partnership in marine fisheries enhancement established by Florida's Fish and Wildlife Agency to develop, test and integrate marine stock enhancement and habitat restoration with marine fisheries management in Florida.
  • Science Consortium for Ocean Replenishment A national research consortium formed to develop, evaluate and demonstrate responsible marine stock enhancement technologies to help boost recovery of depleted fisheries.

CENTER BACKGROUND

Graduate Student Policy We have active and growing opportunities for graduate students in our research programs. It is our policy to accept graduate students only after research funds have been obtained. We will advertise graduate and post-doctoral opportunities on our job board, the AFS Job Board, the Texas A&M Job Board, etc. Currently we do not have any positions open, but please check back soon and thanks for your interest in our research programs.
